Why GA Pilot Log

Built around how you actually fly.

Whether you fly a turbine single on survey or a recreational aircraft on weekends, GA Pilot Log fits the way you log.

🌏

Works wherever you fly

72,000 airports worldwide are built in, times are logged in UTC with local time alongside, and registrations work in any format, from N12345 and G-ABCD to VH-MRP and 19-2627.

⌚️

Every Apple device

One native app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, plus Apple Watch. Your logbook, photos included, syncs through your own iCloud. There's no account to create and no extra server holding your data.

✨

Does the maths for you

Night time is worked out along your route, minute by minute. Block times fill your totals, distances are calculated for you, and the printed page totals always add up.

Go Fly

Tap Start. Fly. Tap Stop. The flight is logged.

Start a flight on your iPhone, or from your Apple Watch with the phone in your pocket. When you stop, GA Pilot Log creates the logbook entry for you, with your times, your airports, the path you flew and the night time already worked out.

  • Records the path you flew and shows it on a map in the flight, then uses it for the distance flown
  • Departure and arrival are matched to the nearest airport or one of your own strips
  • Your Apple Watch is a remote for your iPhone: start and stop the flight and follow it from your wrist
  • Sounds a "Still flying?" alarm on your iPhone and Watch if you've slowed to taxi speed and haven't stopped

Automatic night time

Night time worked out properly, not guessed.

GA Pilot Log uses the ICAO definition of night, the end of civil twilight. It works out where the sun is every minute of your flight, along the route you flew, anywhere in the world, so a leg flown into the sunset is split exactly.

  • Sun position from NOAA's solar equations
  • Night takeoffs and landings are sorted into the right columns
  • Anything you've entered by hand is never overwritten

Signatures

Examiner sign-off you can trust.

Your instructor or examiner signs on your iPhone, iPad or Mac with a finger, Apple Pencil or mouse, and adds their name, licence number and the test flown. Signing locks the flight and records a fingerprint of every detail logged.

  • Any later change, even one that comes in through sync, is flagged as "changed after signing"
  • Signatures and flight reviews are noted on your printed logbook

Regulations

Australian rules built in, with more to come.

Your logbook keeps the details your licence needs, wherever you hold it. For pilots under Australia's CASA Part 61 and RAAus, the rules are built in and the dates that matter are watched for you. Support for other aviation authorities is on the way.

Printed logbook CASA · EASA · UK · FAA

A PDF laid out like your country's paper logbook: the Australian CASA layout, the Part-FCL layout used in Europe and the UK (in hours and minutes), or a US layout on Letter paper. Every page has totals, brought forward and to date. Print a financial year, the last 12 months, or your whole career.

Passenger recency 61.395

3 takeoffs and landings in 90 days, by day and by night, shown as Current, Due Soon or Expired, with a warning two weeks before it lapses.

Flight review 61.745

Mark a flight as your review and the 2-year clock starts. You'll get a warning 60 days before it runs out. Medical expiry is tracked too.

Instrument approaches 61.345(3)(k)

Log each approach with its type (ILS, RNP, GNSS Arrival, VOR, NDB and more), the runway and the airport, and track 3 approaches in 90 days.

Recreational aircraft & members

Registrations in any format (VH-, 19-2627, N-, G-, C-). Mark aircraft as RAAus registered, store your member number, and total your recreational hours separately.

FAQ

Questions pilots ask.

I don't fly in Australia. Is GA Pilot Log for me?

Yes. Logging flights, Go Fly, night time, airports, custom fields and totals, signatures and sync all work wherever you fly. Your logbook prints in the Australian, European and UK (Part-FCL) or US layout. Today the built-in currency checks follow Australia's CASA rules; support for other aviation authorities is on the way. Until then, you can track your own requirements with custom totals.

Is an electronic logbook acceptable to my aviation authority?

Many authorities accept electronic logbooks. In Australia, CASR 61.345 allows one, and GA Pilot Log records the details it requires and prints a copy laid out like the CASA paper logbook, with a certification line for you to sign. Elsewhere, check your own authority's rules or ask your examiner.

Where is my data stored?

On your devices, and in your own private iCloud database, which syncs it to every iPhone, iPad and Mac on your Apple Account. There's no separate account to create, and we don't run a server that holds your logbook.

When does GA Pilot Log use my location?

Only while Go Fly is recording a flight, to log where you started and stopped, the path you flew and your ground speed. It stops as soon as you tap Stop. The path is kept with the flight on your devices and in your own iCloud.

Does Go Fly detect takeoff and landing automatically?

You tap Start and Stop yourself, so the times logged are the ones you chose. If you forget, GA Pilot Log notices when you've slowed to taxi speed and sounds an alarm to remind you to stop. It records 1 takeoff and 1 landing for you, and you can edit the flight afterwards.

Do I need an Apple Watch?

No. Go Fly works on iPhone alone. With a Watch you can start and stop the flight on your iPhone from your wrist, see how long you've been flying, and get the "Still flying?" alarm on your wrist too. Your iPhone does the recording, so keep it with you in the aircraft.

What devices does it run on?

iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Vision Pro running the 2026 software releases (iOS 27, iPadOS 27, macOS 27 and visionOS 27), and Apple Watch with watchOS 26 or later.
